On March 8, the city of Edinburgh is likely that the influx of tourists to see the match England V Scotland rugby championship under the 2008 Six Nations. One of the beauties of Edinburgh is its compact size – most of the monuments and tourist attractions are within the Old Town and New Town areas of the city and not more than 15 minute walk away, making walking more beautiful and lively streets of one of the pleasures of the city. Be prepared however, to address a series of hills. For example, walk from Princes Street, up towards Edinburgh Castle requires some significant fieldwork to the mound and the Royal Mile, but well worth it the efforts of the points of view on the road.
If you choose to use public transport, Edinburgh is served by two bus companies: Lothian and First. There are at least three companies operate sightseeing buses throughout the year. Each tour bus follows a route different from the city, but start and end at Waverley Bridge, near Waverley Station on Princes Street.
If you plan to take a lot of places of interest, the passage of Edinburgh is well worth considering at the outset that offers many of the main attractions of Edinburgh, a 90-page guide and discounts at restaurants and shops. The passage of Edinburgh also includes free public transport in the city and to and from the airport. Best of the city, tourist attractions include the famous Edinburgh Castle above, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, St Giles Cathedral, Royal Mile, the Museum of Whiskey and the Scottish Parliament. Further afield, the Royal Yacht Britannia is moored in Leith Docks, just a short bus ride from downtown.
Edinburgh is said to have the highest proportion per capita in the UK pub and any trip to Edinburgh to convince that this is more than just bragging! There are many traditional pubs throughout the city and concentrate on areas such as the Grassmarket and along Rose Street. There are also plenty of trendy clubs around the Cowgate and George Street, the latter being a bit more upmarket, catering to all kinds Music and budget imaginable.
Although considered one of the most expensive cities in the United Kingdom, hotels value in Edinburgh are generally good for the money, with B & B and guest houses available for the more budget conscious. Make sure you book accommodation with sufficient advance if you are planning on attending the rugby, though, as the best deals are likely to be sold closer to game time.
